On October 27, the results of the regional stage of the Russian National Award "Student of the Year" were announced. Recall that the competitions were held for students of higher education institutions and students of institutions of secondary vocational education (SPO).

A convincing victory was won by Vyatka State University (VyatGU) college student Mikhail Korolyov. He was named the best in the "Professional of the Year" category.

Students of Vyatka State University proudly represented the university in a number of categories, ultimately taking several first places.

The winner in the "Volunteer of the Year" category was Alyona Kostina, a fourth-year student in the "Advertising and Public Relations" program of the Faculty of Philology and Media Communications. Alyona is an experienced volunteer and organizer of many volunteer initiatives. For several years she has worked as an additional education teacher at the Orichev House of Creativity.

Olesya Ushakova is a second-year master's student in sociology at the Faculty of History, Political Science and Cultural Studies. She heads the press service of the "Student Squads of the Kirov Region" and has extensive experience working in social media. Lesya became the winner in the "Media of the Year" category.

The students from "Zdes Media" — the student media center of VyatGU — caused a real sensation. Last year they were already the best, and now they confidently repeated their success, achieving a new victory. At the competition the "Zdes Media" team was represented by Ivan Zayakin (Faculty of History, Political Science and Cultural Studies), Varvara Busygina (Pedagogical Institute), Ekaterina Kuligina (Faculty of Philology and Media Communications), Anastasia Shatunova (Faculty of Philology and Media Communications). And, of course, the head of the media center, Daria Trefilova, a staff member of the VyatGU press service and a graduate of the university this year.

Dasha commented:
"We prepared seriously for this competition, spent a long time planning our performances and rehearsed a great deal. The second challenge — coming up with a media project for the Ministry of Youth Policy — was particularly difficult for us. While working on it, the team and I were constantly on calls, discussing it even at night, because at other times everyone had their own commitments: work and studies. And we really wanted to win! In the end everything went well — we were even advised to submit this idea for a grant."

Celebrating the victory, Dasha emphasized that it is due not only to the students who participated in the competition but to the entire media center team.

"This victory belongs to every member of 'Zdes Media', because it is they who made the media center what it is: strong, vibrant and active," she added, adding:
"I am the head of the media center and I see how everyone is being creative, developing and becoming professionals. And all this happens in a friendly, fun, joyful atmosphere. So I'm doing everything right, aren't I?"
