Why the limit is being introduced
As explained by the ministry, the measure is aimed at combating phone fraud and the illegal circulation of SIM cards. Scammers often register numbers in the names of nominees who are not even aware of the registration.
How to check how many numbers are registered in your name
You can find out how many SIM cards are registered in your name:
on the Gosuslugi portal using the "SIM cards" service;
via your mobile operator's support service or personal account;
by visiting a mobile operator's store.
How to cancel unnecessary numbers
You can terminate inactive service contracts:
at your mobile operator's store;
on the Gosuslugi portal (if your operator is connected to the "SIM cards" service).
Before deactivation you must settle any outstanding debt, if there is any. The procedure may take several days, so the Ministry of Digital Development advises checking your SIM cards in advance.
