Half of families in Kirov Oblast have access to renting an apartment.

According to a ranking of regions by rental housing affordability, Kirov Oblast ranked 31st out of 85 regions. According to experts' estimates, 52.6% of families with two children in which both parents work can afford to rent a two-room apartment and cover basic expenses. For this, the family's total income must be at least 91.3 thousand rubles per month.

Across the country, renting remains an important alternative to mortgages, especially against the backdrop of high interest rates and rising property prices. According to the study, on average across Russia 50.1% of families can afford to rent housing. For this, a family's budget must be at least 123 thousand rubles.

Analysts note that rental affordability increased in 2025 thanks to wage growth, which outpaced the rise in rental rates. Meanwhile, 66 regions recorded improvements compared to the previous year.

The leader of the ranking was the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where 76.4% of families can afford to rent an apartment with an income of about 175 thousand rubles per month. In second and third place are the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (75.5%) and Sakhalin Oblast (64.8%).

Among the bottom performers are the republics of the North Caucasus, where less than a quarter of families are able to pay rent without harming their budgets. Experts attribute this to low wages and a high birth rate, which increase demand and rental costs.
