Today in Russia they celebrate Driver's Day.

On Sunday, October 26, Russia observes Driver’s Day — a professional holiday for everyone connected with motor transport: drivers, auto mechanics, employees of automotive enterprises and road services.

Regional agencies congratulated Kirov residents who have devoted their lives to the road.

The head of the Traffic Police department of the Russian Interior Ministry for the city of Kirov, Andrey Fominykh, said in his address that for millions of people a car is not just a means of transportation, but a true helper at work and a faithful friend.

“We, the Traffic Police officers, like no one else understand how important your work is and how responsible it is to be a driver. Every day you bear responsibility not only for yourselves, but also for the lives of passengers and pedestrians,” he emphasized.

Fominykh wished motorists accident-free roads, reliable cars and “always a green light at all the intersections of life.”

The Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Kirov Region also offered its congratulations. Senior instructor-driver of the 1st Fire and Rescue Unit of Kirov, Mikhail Yershov, addressed his colleagues and all those who spend a significant part of their lives behind the wheel:

“Hold tight to the steering wheel of life. May all turns be smooth, and parking only planned. Always a full tank and a green light!”

Driver’s Day is traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday of October. The holiday brings together not only professional drivers but also all car enthusiasts — people without whom the modern pace of life is unimaginable.
