The Investigative Committee launched a probe into the flooding of a building's basement with feces.

      As the department noted, the inspection was organized in response to reports in Kirov media about the inadequate maintenance of an apartment building located in the Novovyatsky District of the city of Kirov. Due to a malfunction of the building's engineering systems in the structure erected in 1981, a utilities accident occurred that flooded the building's basement with sewage, creating a threat of foundation collapse.

      "At the instruction of the acting head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Kirov Oblast, Maksim Sergeyevich Kozlov, the territorial investigative division immediately organized a procedural check in relation to this incident on signs of a crime provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers)," the Investigative Committee of Russia for Kirov Oblast said.

      Investigators are currently carrying out a series of verification measures and establishing the circumstances of the incident. A decision will be made based on the results of the check.
