The unified federal registry of pregnant women will become operational in Russia in 2026.
Data on pregnant women, pregnancy outcomes and the health status of newborns will be entered into it. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova at a meeting of the Council for the Implementation of State Demographic and Family Policy, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
According to Golikova, the register is being created to monitor the demographic situation and will become part of a large-scale strategy to improve the country’s demographic indicators.
The pregnancy register will be incorporated into a unified system for monitoring patients with various conditions, with the pregnancy component separated out.
The purpose of creating the register is to improve the quality of medical care for women and newborns, as well as to increase the effectiveness of family support measures. The system will allow:
- the collection and analysis of data on pregnancies and births for decision-making;
- improvement of the quality of medical management through assessment of individual risks;
- more accurate planning of healthcare financing, including spending on treatment and drug provision.
The creation of the register is part of the Action Strategy for the Implementation of Family and Demographic Policy through 2036. The document is aimed at raising the birth rate, strengthening maternal and child health, and developing infrastructure to support families.
