A drunk-driving enthusiast had his motor scooter confiscated.
On May 25 of this year a 34‑year‑old resident of Kirovo‑Chepetsk, while intoxicated, got behind the wheel of a motor scooter. He rode through the streets of the city until he was stopped and barred from driving by traffic police officers. A check of the offender’s identity revealed that the man had previously been administratively liable for drunk driving; on that occasion he served administrative arrest.
The man was found guilty under part 1 of Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (operating a vehicle while intoxicated by a person who has been subjected to administrative punishment or has a criminal conviction). The court agreed with the prosecutor and sentenced him to 260 hours of mandatory community service and disqualified him from driving for two years.
In addition, the court applied the provisions of Article 104.1 of the Criminal Code (confiscation of property), transferring the man’s motor scooter to state ownership.
