Most Kirov residents supported the idea of preferential mortgages for doctors and teachers.

The initiative to introduce preferential mortgages for medical workers and teachers received the support of a majority of economically active residents of Kirov. According to the survey, 68% of respondents fully approved the proposal, another 5% supported mortgages only for doctors, and 3% — only for teachers.

Twelve percent of the region’s residents spoke out against the initiative. They said that one should choose a profession “out of vocation, not for the sake of a cheap apartment,” and also noted that “other people also deserve support.” Another 12% had difficulty answering, suggesting alternative measures — raising salaries and directly providing specialists with housing.

Among residents aged 35 to 45, support for targeted mortgages was higher than in other age groups. People with higher education and incomes above 100,000 rubles were more likely than others to support the initiative.

The doctors and teachers themselves, whom the proposal directly concerns, spoke almost unanimously — 74% in each group approved the preferential mortgage.

Overall, the idea of “profession-based” mortgages provokes more debate: 42% of Kirov residents supported it, 26% criticized it, and 32% found it difficult to evaluate. After medical workers and teachers, residents of the region proposed expanding the program to engineers, skilled workers, and military personnel.
