Schoolchildren in Kirov are being encouraged to focus on space.
As reported by the regional government, from October to November the K. E. Tsiolkovsky Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics is implementing the career-guidance project "Horizons of Mastery: Discover a Profession" as part of the "Science Nearby" initiative.
Two tracks were chosen for the program. The "Professions in Aviation and Cosmonautics" track (12+) involved students from School No. 37 and the Vyatka Humanitarian Gymnasium. The regional government noted that the training aligns with the aims and objectives of the national "Space" project. Within this track, students are told that manned spaceflight and the pilot of a civilian or military aircraft are only a small part of the industry.
"The students were not only told about careers in space, but were also given the opportunity to 'try them on.' Project participants have already interviewed cosmonaut Ivan Wagner and Roscosmos photographer Ivan Timoshenko. The course itself is designed so that it can be combined with regular school studies," said homeroom teacher and physics teacher at School No. 37, Eleonora Kropaneva.
Students from the Vyatka Humanitarian Gymnasium took part in the second track, "Museum Guide" (12+). Ekaterina Nechaeva, the gymnasium's English teacher, noted that for the students participating in the museum career-guidance project it is a unique chance to learn about the profession of a museum guide from true professionals in the field.
