Kirov Oblast has fallen in Russia's scientific and technological development ranking.

      In 2023 the Kirov Region was in 34th place, but according to the results for 2024 it lost ground, scoring a rating score of 37.09 and taking 37th place out of 85.

      The study took into account data from Rosstat and Rospatent, including indicators of innovation activity, the volume of shipped innovative goods and the availability of research personnel. Despite a general increase in innovation activity in the country — from 11.3% to 12.5% — the Kirov Region was not among the regions that showed significant growth.

      According to Rosstat, across Russia the share of innovative goods and services remained at 6%, but their volume grew by 18%. The ranking was traditionally led by Moscow, Tatarstan and Saint Petersburg — these regions account for more than a third of all innovative goods and services in the country.
