A stream of solar plasma struck the Earth: scientists warned of geomagnetic storms and auroras.

Scientists at the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that the Earth was hit by a stream of plasma from a coronal hole on the Sun earlier than expected. Because of this, geomagnetic storms struck people during the day, and in the evening residents of central Russia will be able to observe auroras, writes Gazeta.ru.

The Solar Astronomy Laboratory noted that this development was unexpected — according to preliminary calculations, the solar wind's impact was supposed to begin only on Sunday evening.
