The team of the "Ecosystem" movement presented a concept for restoring the Foresters' Arboretum.
Since the 1990s, insufficient funds have been allocated for the park's upkeep, and it has lost its original appearance. More than 150 species of trees and shrubs from different parts of the country are gathered here — all of them have adapted to the local conditions. In essence, it is a true open-air museum, where each specimen is a living page of the history of national forestry.
"Today the dendropark needs care. Over the years excess undergrowth and self-seeding have appeared here, which spoil its appearance and hinder the study of the area's flora. The proximity of private housing creates risks of unauthorized dumps and biological contamination. As part of the project, it is planned to carry out maintenance cutting and sanitary work to bring the area into regulatory compliance. We will create tourist infrastructure that will allow us to manage visitor flows and reduce the pressure on this natural monument," noted Alexandra Sherstkova.
Today the project team is working on attracting funding and preparing applications for the site's improvement. This will restore the natural monument's well-kept appearance and make it an attractive place for residents and visitors to the region.
The dendropark reconstruction project is a vivid example of how professionalism, persistence and faith in a common cause can bring life back to the natural gems of our region. Today ecologists, landscape designers, biologists, engineers and scientists are working shoulder to shoulder on the initiative. This project has become a point of consolidation for a community that combines knowledge, experience and energy for one goal — to preserve and revive the natural heritage of the Kirov region.
