A woman in Sovetsk lost 4,000 rubles while trying to watch a video.

Recently in Sovetsk, a 34-year-old woman received a message from an acquaintance with a video file and the caption “Is that you in the video?”. Thinking it was an ordinary message, she opened the file, which contained only an advertisement. She paid no attention to the conversation and soon forgot about it.

Later, when logging into her online bank, the woman discovered that 4,000 rubles had been withdrawn from her account. She had not made any transactions, so she immediately blocked her cards. Almost simultaneously, the chat with the friend from whose account the message had been sent disappeared.

When checking her account on the Gosuslugi portal, the victim was unable to log into her personal cabinet. After restoring access, it was found that the system had been accessed from a different IP address, and the attackers had requested her credit history and the possibility of obtaining a loan.

The investigation established that malware had been installed on the woman’s phone. A criminal case has been opened under Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and the question of initiating a case under Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is being considered.
