The court confirmed: Lukoil did indeed inflate gasoline prices.
Earlier, as reported by the Kirov office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the company was found to have violated antimonopoly legislation following consideration of a case initiated on citizens' complaints. The court upheld the lawfulness of the FAS's findings.
Recall that on September 30 the agency reported that Lukoil-Uralnefteprodukt was held administratively liable for setting monopolistically high fuel prices and was fined 562,500 rubles. At that time the antimonopoly authority noted that the increase in retail prices for AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline was deemed economically unjustified.
Meanwhile, fuel prices in the region continue to rise. On October 7 the price per liter of AI-95 "Euro" at Kirov gas stations rose by another 30 kopecks — to 64 rubles 32 kopecks. This is already the fourth increase since the beginning of autumn.
Despite officials' promises that Tatneft would enter the Kirov region market and build new gas stations, no noticeable changes have followed so far.
