In Kirov, a vigilant bank employee saved a pensioner from losing 1.5 million rubles.
First a man called the woman, introducing himself as the director of the educational institution where she had previously worked. Under the pretext of verifying her teaching record he extracted personal information. Some time later the pensioner received a message from a "representative of the FSB." The fake security officer claimed that transfers of money to Ukraine were allegedly being made in her name and that she now faced criminal liability. To avoid "problems with the law," the woman was persuaded to withdraw all the money from her account and transfer it to a "safe account." Frightened, the pensioner rushed to the bank, where she attempted to cash out 1.5 million rubles. However a bank employee suspected something was wrong and reported the situation to the police. Thanks to his vigilance the criminals were unable to steal the elderly woman's savings. A criminal case has been opened and an investigation is underway.
