From March 1, 2026, Russia's requirements for the localization of taxi vehicles will take effect. However, the agency said they will not affect vehicles that are already operating in fleets and entered in regional registries, nor car rental services with drivers. These vehicles will be allowed to operate until the end of their service life, RIA Novosti writes.
Earlier the ministry published an initial list of models that comply with the new law. It included cars from Lada, UAZ, Sollers, Evolute, Voyah and Moskvich. The list is planned to be expanded as new localized models appear on the market.
The law was signed by President Vladimir Putin in May 2025.
