Will there be no more "Fankom"?

      Kirov club Fankom will no longer take part in the current edition of the national Cup. Today the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union upheld FC Ufa’s protest.

      Earlier, in the 1/32 final match of the Regional Path, the Kirov side won in a penalty shootout. It later emerged that Fankom had fielded a suspended player, Artem Fedchuk. Ufa filed a request to have the result annulled.

      Today the protest was upheld — Fankom was handed a technical defeat (0:3).

      “Fankom’s position is that they were unaware of the suspension. The club must monitor this. For the previous two matches in which Fedchuk played, the club was fined 20,000 and 50,000 rubles,” commented the head of the RFU’s Control and Disciplinary Committee, Artur Grigoryants.

      According to Championat.ru, Fankom intends to appeal the Control and Disciplinary Committee’s decision.
