
More than a thousand socially oriented non-profit organizations operate in Kirov Oblast.
In 2024, Kirov Oblast had 1,025 socially oriented non-profit organizations (SONCOs), 3.2% more than five years earlier. The average number of employees in SONCOs in the region was about 3,000. Volunteers were actively engaged — in 2024 their number exceeded 21,000, 2.1 times the 2020 figure. The majority of organizations are concentrated in Kirov — 68%. Priority areas of work included sports and physical education, education and science, culture and the arts, social support for citizens, as well as military-patriotic and spiritual-moral education. Over five years the volume of cash and property received by SONCOs increased 2.2 times, reaching 5.1 billion rubles. The largest share of income came from revenue from the sale of goods, works and services — 2.6 billion rubles, or 51.7%. Donations from Russian commercial organizations amounted to 900.8 million rubles, or 17.7%. Financial support from budgets and funds tripled to 624.9 million rubles, 64% of which came from the regional budget. Additionally, 58.9 million rubles were allocated through presidential foundation grants. In 2024 SONCOs provided the region’s residents with over 1 million services, 14.6% more than in 2020. Charitable assistance in cash and in kind was received by 155.5 thousand people, 2.3 times higher than five years earlier. Legal assistance on a free or preferential basis was provided to 12.3 thousand residents of the region.
