In Kirov, new Russian citizens who "forgot" to register for military service were caught.
On September 23, officers from the military investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kirov garrison, the Migration Affairs Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the military enlistment office and the regional directorate of the Interior Ministry conducted an interagency raid. Inspections took place at markets, construction sites and other locations where newly naturalized Russian citizens work.
By law, a man of conscription age is required to report to the military enlistment office within two weeks after taking the oath. However, in practice many fail to do so. During the raid two violators were identified — they will be taken to the enlistment office to be registered.
In some cases, the inspectors explained, deportation may be considered for such violations. In the Kirov region alone nearly a hundred draft evaders have been identified this year. All were registered, and seven men have already signed contracts and are serving, including in the area of the special military operation.
