The autumnal equinox will occur on September 22.
On September 22 at 21:19 Moscow time the autumnal equinox will occur. At that moment the center of the solar disk will cross the celestial equator, and the Sun will move from the northern celestial hemisphere into the southern.
This marks the beginning of astronomical autumn, which will last until the winter solstice. Gradually the nights will become longer than the days. At the equinox day and night are practically equal everywhere in the world, and the Sun rises due east and sets due west.
At Kirov’s latitude the actual equality of day and night will occur slightly later due to atmospheric refraction. In 2025 the night will become longer than the day only starting on September 25, reports “Amateur Astronomy in Kirov.”
