Pollution detected in the Mostovitsa River in Kirov.

      In Kirov, pollution of the Mostovitsa River was recorded in the Chistye Ponds area. Preliminary tests showed the presence of petroleum products in the water, which local residents had previously noted. The Ministry for Environmental Protection cited abandoned pipes, through which untreated effluent is being discharged, as the cause. The ministry has sent documents to the environmental prosecutor’s office and demanded that the Kirov administration assume responsibility for the pipes so they can be removed and the river pollution stopped. The agency is also preparing recommendations on temporary technical measures that will help reduce harm to the environment until all necessary procedures are completed.
