In Russia, they want to automatically fine sellers for delays.
Rospotrebnadzor has prepared a bill that will allow sellers to be automatically fined for selling expired goods, Izvestia reported. Currently more than 18,000 such violations are recorded monthly. Moreover, as noted in the bill’s explanatory note, after the introduction of labeling the number of violations for dairy products fell by more than 40 times, but since April 2025 the total number of cases has been rising again. From April to August the number of offenders increased from 4,165 to 4,790 legal entities and from 13,972 to almost 15,000 individual entrepreneurs. Experts believe that businesses are taking advantage of the current moratorium on inspections, while the entrepreneurs themselves call the new measures too harsh and controversial.
