Breaking down borders: you can add loved ones from across the country to MegaFamily.

      Previously, MegaFamily owners could add friends and relatives — MegaFon subscribers — only from their own region or neighboring regions. The operator developed a solution that allowed it to modify the service and enabled customers to add participants registered in other regions to the group. This is the first offering of its kind among the country’s largest mobile operators.

      To activate the option, a subscriber needs to go to the “MegaFamily” section in the MegaFon app, create it, and enter the relative’s name and phone number.

      “Bringing close people from different regions onto a single tariff is not only the implementation of a complex technical solution, but also the erasure of geographic boundaries for our customers. Now ‘MegaFamily’ helps optimize communication costs within the group, even if you live at opposite ends of the country. We are convinced that this solution will help our customers become even closer,” comments MegaFon’s Commercial Director Dmitry Rudskikh.

      MegaFon launched the “MegaFamily” service in April 2023. With it, the operator’s customers can add relatives and close ones to a group, and they will share data, minutes and SMS packages, with some members potentially not having to pay for service. In addition, participants will have access to shared “MegaSila” perks — unlimited access to popular apps, unlimited calls to MegaFon, bonus GB, additional packages of minutes and data, and rollover of unused allowances. Up to five participants can be added to a MegaFamily, and additional gigabytes are added to the tariff for free for each MegaFamily member — up to 300 GB in total depending on the tariff.

      Since the beginning of the year, the number of users actively sharing their tariff has increased by almost 25%. Most often — in 58% of cases — MegaFamily organizers are men, with the most caring of them living in the Taymyr and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs, Chechnya, Dagestan and the Magadan Region. According to the operator’s analysts, the most active age for creating a MegaFamily is 35–44 years.
