
A woman from Kirov Oblast fabricated a child to obtain maternity capital.
A 49-year-old resident of Kirov Oblast has been convicted of fraud in obtaining payments. The court found her guilty of crimes under parts 1 and 3 of Article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The court established that in February 2022 the woman acquired a forged birth certificate for a non-existent child in Moscow. Using this document and fictitious certificates of "home births," she applied for social payments and obtained a state certificate for maternity capital. She used the funds to pay for a plot of land in Bashkortostan allegedly for the construction of a house.
In addition, the fraudster received several benefits in the Penza Region and Chuvashia, including child payments and a monthly feeding allowance for children under three years old. The total loss to the budget amounted to more than 760,000 rubles.
The woman fully admitted her guilt. The court sentenced her to 3 years and 1 month of imprisonment, suspended, with a probationary period of 2.5 years. In addition, she was ordered to reimburse the damage caused to the state, the Penza Region Prosecutor’s Office reports.
