Unemployment in the Kirov Region fell to 1.7%.

      According to Kirovstat, the labor force in Kirov Oblast in the first half of 2025 totaled 576.3 thousand people. Of them, 566.7 thousand residents were employed, and 9.7 thousand were classified as unemployed according to the International Labour Organization methodology. The employment rate was 59.6%. Men are employed more often than women: 69.6% of men were employed, compared with 51.5% of women. The unemployment rate fell to 1.7%, or 0.5 percentage points lower than a year earlier. The average age of the employed population in the region is 43 years. The largest share of workers are people aged 30–59 (77%). More than half of workers have secondary vocational education, and one in five have higher or general secondary education. On average, each employed resident of the oblast worked 37 hours per week. Men worked more than women — 39 hours versus 34. Slightly more than 39 thousand people worked more than 40 hours per week, which is 30% fewer than in the same period last year. As for the unemployed, their average age was 42 years. The majority are men (53%) and urban residents (66%). They most commonly had general secondary (38%) or secondary vocational (32%) education. The average duration of job search in the region is 4.5 months; however, 10% of residents have been seeking work for a year or more. Kirovstat also noted an increase in volunteer involvement. In the first half of 2025, 24 thousand people in Kirov Oblast engaged in volunteer activities, 95% of whom were women, primarily aged 60–69. Most volunteers provided social assistance to the elderly, children, people with disabilities, and others in need.
