Oleg Valenchuk: the "Let's Decorate the Motherland with Flowers!" project transforms the city and unites generations

      Kirov — a city with a rich history and distinctive culture — is being transformed year after year thanks to the efforts of caring residents who love their native land.

      For more than 10 years the regional center has been implementing a project by State Duma deputy and chairman of the Union of Gardeners of Russia Oleg Valenchuk, “Let’s Decorate the Motherland with Flowers!” This year was no exception. In the spring more than 500 apartment buildings in Kirov received free kits of annual flower seeds from Oleg Valenchuk, perfectly suited to our climate. Importantly, starting this year residents of private houses and owners of dacha plots can also take part in the competition.

      The culmination of the competition will be the festival “Let’s Decorate the Motherland with Flowers!” (12+) in Kochurovsky Park, located in the South-West district of the city, which will begin on September 13 at 11:00.

      “The uniqueness of the project lies in its comprehensive approach. It is not limited to a simple contest for the most beautiful flowerbed. ‘Let’s Decorate the Motherland with Flowers!’ is a platform for collective creativity: the competition encourages residents of apartment buildings, educational institutions, cultural institutions, and gardening associations to unite, discuss ideas and bring them to life together. This strengthens neighborhood ties, creates new acquaintances and, ultimately, builds a friendly community of like-minded people,” emphasizes Oleg Valenchuk.

      The festival in Kochurovsky Park promises to be a real event for all lovers of beauty and creativity. The program includes:

      - a ceremonial awarding of the competition winners;

      - master classes where specialists will share tips on plant care and help choose suitable varieties;

      - an exhibition of Vyatka grapes;

      - an entertainment program for the whole family with exciting raffles, valuable prizes and gifts;

      - a festive disco.

      All guests of the event will also be able to enjoy fragrant pilaf for free, sample Vyatka grapes and local apples, and have tea provided by the Union of Gardeners.

      The main prize — a smartphone — and more than 20 other prizes will be raffled at the festival. To enter the draw, you must take a photo in the photo zone, which is already open in the Farmer’s Market building (3‑b E. Kochkina St.), or right at the festival. Post the photo on your VKontakte page with the hashtag #ЯркаяВятка. Winners will be determined using a random number generator on September 13 at 13:00.
