      Of the region’s total working-age population, 566.7 thousand people were classified as employed. 9.7 thousand people were recognized as unemployed. The employment rate of the population was 59.6%. At the same time, the employment rate for men was higher than for women: 69.6% and 51.5%, respectively. The unemployment rate for the period was 1.7% — 0.5 percentage points lower compared with the same period last year.

      According to the results of the survey for the first six months of 2025, the average age of the employed population was 43 years. In that period, those aged 30 to 59 predominated (77%); one in seven was a young person aged 15 to 29. More than half of those employed had vocational secondary education, and one in five had higher or general secondary education.

      Seventy-seven percent of employed residents of the region worked at enterprises and organizations with legal-entity status. Fourteen percent were employed by individuals, individual entrepreneurs, and in farming households. About 8% were engaged in entrepreneurial activity, and 2% were occupied in their own household producing agricultural, forestry, hunting, and fishing products for sale or exchange.

      On average, each employed person in the first half of 2025 worked 37 hours per week. Men worked an average of 39 hours per week, women 34 hours. Slightly more than 39 thousand people worked more than the standard 40 hours per week — 30% fewer than in the same period last year.
