Banks have introduced a "second-hand" service to protect against scammers.
In September, Russian banks launched a "Second Hand" service that helps protect customers from fraudsters. The new service allows customers to designate a trusted person who receives notifications about payments, transfers and cash withdrawals.
The trusted person can confirm a transaction or reject it if they suspect fraud. If no confirmation is received within 12 hours, the transaction is automatically canceled.
The service can be customized individually, allowing customers to specify which operations will require approval. The trusted person does not gain access to the account and cannot dispose of the funds.
The service covers transfers, cash withdrawals and payments via the Fast Payment System. Transfers to one's own accounts at other banks, as well as payments for utilities, taxes and fines, will be processed without approval.
