City Day was pushed off to Novovyatsk and Komintern.
A news item was posted on the city administration’s website announcing that an events calendar for the autumn has been released for Kirov. According to the document compiling the main events of the just-begun autumn, very few cultural and purely entertainment events are planned for City Day, which Governor Sokolov set for September 22 instead of June 12 — the date on which Kirov celebrated its birthday for decades.
The main event in honor of City Day will not take place on Theatre Square — in the heart of Kirov — but rather in its other “anatomical component,” the name of which it is considered bad form to utter in polite company: the square by house No. 223/2 on Pavla Korchagina Street. Judging by the announcement, which promises congratulations to residents from the city’s top officials, this event will serve as the “official and ceremonial” congratulation to Kirov’s residents. At this celebration of life dedicated to City Day, after the officials’ congratulations creative ensembles will perform, and then a disco to live music will begin.
Celebrations under a name that, to be honest, makes one’s teeth ache — “My Native Land over the Vyatka River” (0+) — will take place on September 21 in Kirov Park. In the amphitheater creative groups will sing and dance not from just anywhere, but from Lyangasovo itself.
Another event in honor of City Day will be held in the Novovyatsky District at the “Russia” House of Culture, and a festive concert will be held in Gagarin Park, where they promise performances by “the best creative ensembles of the city of Kirov and an incendiary dance program.”

They probably decided to mark the new "official" City Day of Kirov modestly, if not parochially, by staging the celebrations on the outskirts.
