As RBC reports, the trial period will last until September 14, 2026. China's Foreign Ministry noted that the initiative is aimed at simplifying mutual travel and expanding contacts between the two countries.
In August 2023, the group visa-free tourist exchange between Russia and China, suspended during the pandemic, was resumed. At that time the first group of tourists in three years traveled to China on the "Grand Tour" route.
Earlier in 2025 it became known that the range of visa-free destinations available to Russians had been expanded. Thus, an agreement on visa-free entry to Myanmar for up to 30 days has been in effect since July 1, and in August the foreign ministers of Russia and Jordan signed a similar document. In addition, the possibility of introducing a visa-free regime with Bahrain is being discussed.
