The Dolgikh case may be transferred from Kirov: a motion has been sent to the cassation court.
The hearing took place in two parts: first from 9:30, then after a break from 11:15. The defendant’s brother and his middle son were present in the courtroom, but the defendant’s wife Tatyana, who was appearing as a witness, was removed. Also today Violetta Volkova came to the courtroom in person. She was the only lawyer present.
Anton Dolgikh and his defense filed several motions at once. The first was a demand for the recusal of the presiding judge Yan Shavshukov — it was denied. Then lawyer Violetta Volkova submitted a new motion to change the territorial jurisdiction. She asserted that the entire judiciary of the Kirov region is “biased,” and the prosecution is “obviously partial.”
Although the court noted that filing such a document was untimely, the motion was nevertheless accepted and forwarded to the Sixth Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction (Samara). There they will decide whether the case will remain in Kirov or be transferred to another region.
During the hearing Dolgikh again spoke emotionally, alleging a “reprisal for human rights activity.” When the decision on the second motion was announced, Anton could not contain his emotions.
The case was adjourned until October 3, 2025, at 9:30. If the cassation court does not manage to consider the motion by that date, the proceedings may be postponed again.
