In Kirov, the quarantine zone around the Ussuri polygraph was expanded to 12,000 hectares.

On August 28, the Rosselkhoznadzor office for the Kirov Region, Udmurtia and Perm Krai reported an expansion of the quarantine phytosanitary zone for the Ussuri polygraphus in Kirov. Its area now totals 12,225 hectares.

The decision is linked to the fact that during an inspection of the city's forests specialists discovered new outbreaks of the insect over an area of nearly 1,900 hectares.

The Ussuri polygraphus (Polygraphus proximus Blandford) is a bark beetle that attacks coniferous trees and can spread rapidly. The imposed quarantine regime is intended to help localize the outbreaks and prevent further spread of the pest.

Detailed information on the boundaries of the quarantine zones, as well as the program of measures to eradicate the polygraphus, have been published on the Rosselkhoznadzor website.
