The Ministry of Ecology promised to deal with the landfill in the Kirovo-Chepetsk District.
As we wrote earlier, an illegal dump was recently discovered in the Kirovo-Chepetsk district near the village of Pron'kintsy. This information prompted an inspection by the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
It turned out that waste had begun to be brought onto the site of a former landfill, closed back in 2017 and due for reclamation. Access to the site was possible because rubbish from another landfill being decommissioned in the village of Koshkino was being temporarily transported there. This was exploited by unscrupulous individuals.
The violations were recorded and an administrative case was opened. Local authorities will identify those responsible and restrict access to the site in the near future. The ministry promised to monitor the progress of these works.
