Gosuslugi is testing the delivery of one-time codes via the MAX messenger.

      The Ministry of Digital Development announced the launch of a new way to confirm sign-in to Gosuslugi — via the MAX messenger. The code arrives directly in the app and serves as a second factor of protection alongside existing methods: SMS, TOTP codes, or biometrics.

      According to the ministry, the new method is convenient and secure:

      - the chatbot verifies the user with security questions and prevents the code from being issued to attackers;

      - it does not require installing an additional app to generate one-time passwords if MAX is already installed;

      - it is suitable for those who cannot receive SMS.

      Setup is done through the browser: after signing into Gosuslugi a banner will appear offering to activate the code in MAX. The user selects a device to receive codes and marks it as trusted via a QR code. All codes work only for a single session.

      If desired, the confirmation method can be changed in the "Security" section of the Gosuslugi personal account.
