A "black moon" will rise in the sky.
On August 22, people on Earth will be able to observe a rare astronomical phenomenon — the so-called "black moon." It occurs when the second new moon falls within a single calendar month.
During such an event the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, and its illuminated side faces away, so the satellite becomes completely invisible to the naked eye, Gazeta.ru writes.
Astronomers emphasize that a "black moon" is no different from an ordinary new moon, and there is no cause for alarm. Such an event occurs approximately once every 33 months. The next one is expected on August 20, 2028.
