Demand for used cars has increased in Russia.
On an annual basis the market also grew by 3.8%, the best result in the past nine months, Kommersant reported.
Lada remains the leader — 139.2 thousand cars were sold in July (+4.6% year-on-year). Next came Toyota (58.4 thousand, +4.3%) and KIA (33.1 thousand, +1.8%). The top five also included Hyundai (31.7 thousand, +2.6%) and Nissan (25 thousand, -3.2%). The most popular models remain the Lada 2114, Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio.
Experts attribute the sales growth to a reduction in the Central Bank's key rate, lower auto loan rates, and a revival of the new-car market, which stimulated car exchanges under the "sold — bought" scheme. An additional factor was the strengthening of the ruble, which made imported cars more affordable, and the overall decline in used-car prices — on average by 5–10% since the start of the year.
The most notable price falls were for Chevrolet (-6.5%), Ford and Nissan (-4.4%), Lada (-4.1%) and KIA (-4%). Among models, prices dropped most for the Renault Logan (-10.9%), Hyundai Solaris and Lada Kalina (-6.7%). The weighted average price of a used car in July was 1.14 million rubles.
Forecasts for August remain positive. According to experts, the secondary market could gain between 10% and 18% compared with July, and demand for budget and time‑tested models will remain high.
