Over seven months in Kirov Oblast there were 97 traffic accidents caused by drunk drivers.
From January through July, 97 road traffic accidents involving drivers who were intoxicated or refused to undergo alcohol testing were registered in Kirov Oblast. Compared with the same period in 2024, the number of such crashes increased by 11.5%.
As a result of the crashes, 21 people died and 130 were injured. The number of injured increased by 19.3%, while the number of fatalities decreased by 12.5%. In the city of Kirov during this period there were 19 such crashes, which is 26.9% fewer than a year earlier. Twenty-six people were injured in them.
The highest number of accidents was recorded in the Kirovo-Chepetsky, Kotelnichsky, Luzsky, Belokholunitsky, Slobodskoy, Urzhumsky and Yaransky districts. Most of the accidents occurred in populated areas.
