Today, August 12, Acting Prosecutor of the Kirov Region Dmitry Sherstnev held a reception for citizens who came to him with complaints about violations of their labor rights. Also present at the meeting were officers of the territorial investigative directorate of the Investigative Committee.
The citizens are employed at a manufacturing enterprise in the town of Vyatskiye Polyany. Since the spring of this year the company has already been under the scrutiny of the prosecutor’s office due to outstanding wage arrears. As of today, the debt owed to 32 employees amounts to more than 5 million rubles. At the moment the full range of prosecutorial response measures is being taken to protect the employees’ labor rights.
The company’s director was issued a notice to remedy the violations of the law. He is being held administratively liable in a case of an administrative offense under part 6 of Article 5.27 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of labor legislation).
The prosecutor’s office forwarded the inspection materials to the investigative authorities for a criminal-legal assessment of the established facts and for the initiation of a criminal case under Article 145.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (non-payment of wages for more than two months).
During the meeting a report by the executive director of the machine-building plant was heard regarding the causes of the debt and the prospects for its repayment. Sherstnev instructed the Vyatskiye Polyany interdistrict prosecutor and the staff of the department for supervision of the enforcement of federal legislation of the regional prosecutor’s office to comprehensively assess the activities of the enterprise’s management and to ensure, through prosecutorial response measures and interagency cooperation, the full restoration of the citizens’ constitutional rights.
