More than 2,000 kilometers of road markings will be applied in Kirov Oblast.
In the Kirov region this year measures are being implemented to prevent accident-prone sections and to improve road safety.
On roads with upgraded surfacing, 2,026 km of horizontal road markings will be applied, including with wear-resistant materials. At dangerous sections and near children’s institutions markings duplicating road signs will appear.
Street lighting will be installed in 95 settlements with a total length of more than 137 km. In potentially hazardous locations 143 new road signs will be installed, and rumble strips will be added at 25 accident-prone sections. Installation of new barrier guardrails is also planned.
Some work is already underway. At the 12th kilometer of the Kirov – Strizhi – Orichi route, which has been identified as a traffic accident concentration area, a photo- and video-enforcement complex has been installed. LED traffic-signal repeaters will soon be installed there. On the Kirov – Malmyzh – Vyatskiye Polyany road, in the village of Kstinino, a pedestrian call device and barriers will be installed.
On the southern bypass of Kirov, near the turn to the village of Shutovshchina, a traffic light, outdoor lighting, sidewalks, bus shelters and pedestrian guardrails are being installed. In the settlements of Suna and Bolshevik construction of sidewalks and installation of lighting totaling 2.7 km has begun.
Another innovation is a “zebra” projection at pedestrian crossings. Such a system is already operating on the approach to Pobedilovo Airport, and it will soon be installed at five more locations: in the village of Perevoz, the settlement of Pizhanka and the town of Sovetsk.
According to the regional Ministry of Transport, as of the beginning of August 2025 the number of traffic accidents with casualties on regional and intermunicipal roads decreased by 7.2% compared with the same period last year.
