"Tax office employee" cheated a woman from Kirov.

      A woman from Kirov received a call from a stranger who introduced herself as an employee of the tax inspectorate. According to the caller, the woman's employer had allegedly failed to submit a report on her, so she needed to come in for an appointment. The caller added that she had sent the victim an electronic queue code in an SMS from Gosuslugi. The Kirov resident gave the numbers to the scammer.

      Later the victim received a message on WhatsApp saying that her personal account on Gosuslugi had been hacked and that she needed to call back the phone number provided in the message. A man who answered the call said that the Kirov woman's data had appeared online and that scammers were trying to use it to commit crimes. To prevent this, the stranger convinced the woman to transfer 300,000 rubles to the specified phone number. He also specified that the next day she would be contacted by staff from the legal department who would explain everything. However, the call never came: communication stopped and the man did not get back in touch. Only then did the woman realize she had been deceived and went to the police. A criminal case has been opened.
