Parents of first-graders do not want their children to be taught by a man.

      According to the study, 35% of fathers and 33% of mothers of first-graders consider a woman the best candidate for the role of the first teacher. Only 3% of respondents would like to see a man in that position. For almost half of parents (49%), the teacher’s gender does not matter.

      By age, preferences were distributed as follows: 36% of parents call teachers aged 30–40 ideal, 9% prefer those under 30, 14% prefer 40–50, and 7% prefer over 50. Another 26% of respondents believe age does not matter.

      Mothers more often than fathers choose middle-aged teachers and are less likely to take a neutral position (17%). Fathers, on the other hand, more often say the teacher’s age is unimportant to them (36%) and are slightly more likely to prefer teachers over 50.
