Fewer ticks, but it's still early to relax: Kirov residents reminded of protective measures

Since the beginning of July, there has been a decrease in the activity of ticks in the Kirov region. However, as specialists emphasize, there is no need to relax yet: insects still pose a threat, especially in forest areas, summer cottage sites, and park zones.

Sanitary services continue to carry out acaricidal treatments of areas with large human activity, including school camps and country campsites. Since the start of the season, over 3443 hectares have been treated in the region, with nearly 1000 hectares being areas of children's organizations.

Rospotrebnadzor reminds that when going outdoors, it is necessary to use special protective clothing, regularly check oneself and children for ticks, and carry out a mandatory "inspection" after returning home. It is especially important to follow safety precautions in untreated forest zones.

Kirov residents are also warned about a less obvious but no less dangerous threat — infection with tick-borne encephalitis through raw milk. The virus can enter the human body when consuming unboiled milk from goats, sheep, or cows, as well as products made from it, such as cottage cheese, sour cream, etc. Therefore, specialists insist that milk must be boiled.

Note that ticks can enter the home not only with clothing but also on the fur of pets, with bouquets, branches, and other items.
