A resident of Kirov reported a theft to conceal an accident from his cohabitant.

      A criminal case has been initiated in Kirov against a resident of Novovyatsk. He reported to the police about a supposedly stolen car. The incident occurred on July 15. The man approached the police station with a statement about the theft of a Lada Granta. He claimed that the car was stolen near his house. However, during the verification, police officers found footage from a surveillance camera showing the owner personally driving away in his car. After reviewing the footage, the man admitted that he had invented the story. It turned out he had a quarrel with his cohabitant, went to Yurya, and on the way, got into an accident on an old bridge. The driver fled the scene, abandoned the car on one of the streets, and returned home by bus. Afraid that his cohabitant would find out what happened, he decided to report the theft. According to police reports, the Kirov resident admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. He will be held responsible under Part 1 of Article 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (knowingly false report of a crime).
