The Trinity Life-Giving Church in the Makarye settlement celebrated its 250th anniversary.
In 2025, the Trinity Church in the Makarye village celebrates its 250th anniversary of the consecration of its main altar. To mark the jubilee, on August 3rd at 9:00 am, a solemn Divine Liturgy will be held in the church. The festive service will be led by Metropolitan Mark of Vyatka and Slobodskoy.
The history of the parish in Makarye dates back to the mid-17th century: the first wooden church was founded here by a charter from Patriarch Joseph in 1646. Over time, the church was rebuilt and expanded. The stone Trinity Church was laid in 1768 and consecrated in 1775. Its architecture is an example of unique Vyatka Baroque.
The church survived the revolution, the years of the Renovation movement, and closure in 1940. For a long time, the building was used as a rural club. It was only in 1988 that it was returned to the Orthodox community. From 1994 to 2005, the Holy Trinity Alexander Nevsky Women’s Monastery was located on its territory under the management of Abbess Sophia (Rozanova).
