Users are switching en masse to wired internet due to mobile outages.
There is a record-high demand for wired internet connections across Russia, resulting in a 30-day wait time for service. According to the tariff comparison service 101internet.ru, in some regions, connection delays by providers can extend up to 40-50 days. Recently, residents of Kirov faced issues with slowdowns, and in some parts of the city, complete lack of mobile internet. Regional authorities described this measure as necessary and aimed at preventing potential drone attacks. We asked experts whether these restrictions contributed to increased demand for wired internet services in the region. "Overall across the country, in June-July 2025, nearly a quarter of all internet connection requests (24.9%) involved wait times exceeding 30 days. However, the Kirov region shows stable and prompt performance in this context," commented Alexander Lyovochkin, founder of the tariff comparison service 101internet.ru, to Newsler.ru. "According to our data, most connections in Kirov were completed within 2-6 days, including those from federal operators, indicating a balanced workload for installation teams and accessible technical infrastructure," the interviewee added. Compared to other regions such as Smolensk, Pskov, and even St. Petersburg, Kirov stands out as a positive exception. "We still recommend not delaying connection, especially during holiday seasons or moving periods when the workload may temporarily increase," Lyovochkin concluded.
