Last year, the city buses carried 79 million passengers.

      According to Kirovstat, the majority of route buses in the region (96.4%) are equipped with satellite navigation systems. 235 buses used natural gas as fuel. The number of buses designed for transporting people with disabilities was 309, of which 83.8% are low-floor buses.

      The agency reported that in 2024, there was an increase in commercial passenger traffic in the region. Over the year, public buses transported 91.7 million passengers, which is 0.3% more than the previous year. Passenger turnover increased by 6.3%, totaling 730.1 million passenger-kilometers.

      The majority of passengers in Kirov Region were carried on city routes: 79.1 million people. Nearly 11 million passengers used suburban public transport. 1.8 million people used intercity buses.

      Most commercial transportation (95.3%) was carried out by buses on regular routes. In 2024, these buses transported 87.5 million passengers. Charter and tourist-excursion buses carried 4.3 million people.

      Every day, 251.4 thousand passengers used bus services, with an average of 82 trips per resident per year. The average trip distance was 8 kilometers.

      As part of organized group transportation for children, 1.7 million young passengers were transported to their destinations, which is 10.8% more than in 2023. Both commercial buses and school-owned vehicles were used for this transportation.

      Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs providing passenger transportation by buses for their own needs transported 3.7 million people, an increase of 4.1% compared to 2023.

      Kirovstat noted that in the current year, there was a decline in passenger traffic on public routes. In the first half of 2025, buses transported 43.2 million passengers, which is 6.3% less than the same period last year. Passenger turnover decreased by 5.7%, totaling 283.7 million passenger-kilometers.
