Kirov Antimonopoly authorities initiated a case against Alfa-Bank

      The Kirov Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service has initiated proceedings against Alpha Bank due to advertising displayed on one of its ATMs. The reason was an announcement about the card that used the phrase "the most advantageous."

      According to Russian advertising law, such wording is only permissible when specific comparison criteria and objective evidence of the product’s advantages are provided. In this case, no such information was presented.

      The FAS identified signs of a violation of Article 5 of the Federal Law "On Advertising," which states that advertising must be truthful and not mislead consumers. The use of comparisons without evidence is considered unreliable and violates consumers' rights. If the violation is confirmed, the bank could face a fine.
