The average payout for OSAGO increased in Russia.

According to the Russian Association of Motor Insurers (RSA), the average premium for annual OSAGO policies in the first half of 2025 was 7,278 rubles, which is 5% lower than the average premium for "motor liability" in the first half of 2024. Conversely, the average payout for annual OSAGO policies increased by 16.6% compared to the first half of the previous year, reaching 110,230 rubles. In the first half of 2024, the average payout was 94,513 rubles.

"Despite fluctuations in auto parts prices and a significant increase in average payouts, insurers are successfully keeping the growth of the average premium in check. One of the main factors restraining the growth of the mandatory auto liability insurance premium is the high competition among insurers for 'cost-neutral' car owners—responsible drivers who adhere to traffic rules and avoid accidents. The number of such drivers is increasing, which significantly impacts market dynamics," noted RSA President Evgeny Ufimtsov.

According to Ufimtsov, the total amount of payouts for the first half of 2025 is estimated at 115.1 billion rubles, including 110 billion rubles paid by insurers, 4 billion rubles in judicial overhead costs, and 1.1 billion rubles in payments from the RSA Compensation Fund. The number of contracts concluded during this period was 23 million, of which 2.2 million were short-term OSAGO policies. Premiums collected for OSAGO during this period totaled 155.3 billion rubles.
