This allowed the woman to unlawfully receive 630,000 rubles from the state — the entire amount of maternity capital at that time. In fact, 290,000 rubles were obtained illegally. The defendant spent this money on personal needs. The court found the woman guilty under Part 3 of Article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud in obtaining payments) and sentenced her to one year probation with a six-month probationary period. Additionally, the convicted person was ordered to pay the amount of the damages caused — 290,000 rubles.
