Kirov residents need 204 thousand rubles a month for happiness

According to a SuperJob survey, in July 2025 residents of Kirov on average estimate the necessary income for happiness at 204,000 rubles per month. For comparison, in September of the previous year, this figure was 190,000 rubles, and in April of this year, it was 178,000 rubles. Despite the increase, Kirov remains among the cities with the lowest material expectations.

On average, Russians over 18 years old need 257,000 rubles per month for happiness — 3% more than in September 2024 and 47% more than ten years ago.

According to the survey, men more often cite an amount of 280,000 rubles, while women cite 235,000 rubles. Youth under 24 years old, they say, are satisfied with 192,000 rubles, whereas Russians over 45 estimate the "cost of happiness" at 272,000 rubles. It is also noted that there is a dependence on income level and education: the higher the salary and status, the higher the expectations. For example, respondents with a salary of over 100,000 rubles per month consider 300,000 rubles a comfortable amount, and university graduates, on average, name a figure of 287,000 rubles.

The highest demands are recorded in Moscow (290,000 rubles), Vladivostok (276,000 rubles), and Saint Petersburg (264,000 rubles). At the same time, Saint Petersburg has become one of the leaders in the growth of desired income — a +10% increase compared to September of the previous year.

Aside from Kirov, the list of cities with the most modest expectations also includes Ulyanovsk, Lipetsk, and Izhevsk, where residents name a "happy" amount of 214,000 rubles.
